Hello Happy People,
Today Dianne shares another conversation with her friend, Mark L. Redmond. Mark is a fellow western author and was the first author Dianne ever interviewed on her podcast back when it was still Whatever Wednesdays.
Mark fell in love with reading as a child. Saturday morning TV westerns were a big influence on his prefered genre. His fascination with cowboy culture led him to seek out books by great western authors like Louis L’Amour, Max Brand, Zane Grey and more.
From a young age Mark knew he wanted to be an English teacher and a writer. Mark honed his writing skills with poetry and prose while earning his teaching degree at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga.
He began his professional career in the late ’70's as an English teacher at Grace Baptist Christian High School in South Bend, Indiana. During his summer breaks, this young husband and father took on other jobs to support his growing family. Summers were spent gardening, working construction, painting houses, and when time allowed, he wrote.
Over the next several years, Mark would go on to publish numerous articles and short stories but it wouldn’t be until the late ’80’s that Mark would finish his first Arty Anderson book, Arty Goes West. Eventually Mark added books for adults to his catalog of published works and he is now working on new middle grade readers, The Box M Gang Series.
