Hello My Happy People,
In this episode of Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt, I sit down with fantasy author, artist, blogger, and creative entrepreneur Winnifred “Winnie” Tataw. Winnie began building her creative world through Win’s Books while still a full-time college student, creating a growing brand that blends publishing, art, fantasy storytelling, and author support services that continue to grow years later.
At the center of our conversation is Winnie’s fantasy series The Gods’ Scion and the book Child of Tempus. The story follows Rodrick, a dragon-human hybrid prince and the Acolyte of Time, as he struggles with dangerous powers, family dysfunction, mental health challenges, and the growing threat posed by his father, the Demon King Ryton. Mixing fantasy with modern emotional struggles, the series explores how different characters respond to trauma, pressure, and the consequences of the world around them.
We also discuss the connection between visual art and storytelling and how Winnie’s Cameroonian heritage has influenced her creativity and worldbuilding. She shares her views on her growing creative community and how mindset changed her ability to grow as a creative.
If you enjoy fantasy worlds filled with magic, emotional complexity, complicated family dynamics, and ambitious young creators building something unique, this is an episode you will not want to miss.
